The regular bilateral meeting of delegations of Rosstandart and Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB)

The 7-11th of October Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) hosted the 48th meeting of the International Committee of Legal Metrology (CIML), during which a workshop was held on the Mutual Acceptance Arrangement and a Roundtable of regional metrology organizations of legal metrology. 48 OIML Member States and 12 OIML Corresponding Members had participated in these events.

The meeting, attended by a delegation from the Russian Federation, was headed by the Russian CIML member, Prof. Dr. Kononogov S.A.

During the meeting a number of documents were presented and approved: the minutes of the 47th CIML meeting, the International Bureau of Legal Metrology (BIML) Director’s report, the BIML budget. Elections of the CIPM second Vice–president also took place during the meeting; the majority was carried by Dr. Yukinobu MIKI - Director of the National Metrology Institute of Japan. The CIML meeting included presentations of the following international organizations: BIPM, IEC, ILAC and CECIP.


Upon the CIML meeting resolutions were adopted and the following documents were approved - International vocabulary of terms in legal metrology (VIML) and OIML Recommendations R46 and R49.


During the Roundtable discussion with the participation of AFRIMET, APMP, WELMEC, COOMET and GULFMET were examined the problems of organization of assistance to developing countries in the field of legal metrology. An initiative group was established, chaired by the P.R. China spokesperson.

The next CIML meeting will take place in 2014 in the city of Oakland, New Zealand.
